Invitation for Enrollment in a Polish School

Official basis for obtaining a student visa (type D, purpose — nauka)

What this document is

An invitation (zaproszenie / przyjęcie do szkoły) is an official letter issued by a Polish educational institution confirming its readiness to admit a student to a specific class or program.

Based on this document, a foreign citizen can apply for a long-term national student visa (type D), which allows legal residence and study in Poland.

Important: the invitation itself is not a visa and does not replace the visa procedure. The decision to issue a visa is made by the consulate.

Who it is for

  • Families planning to relocate and wishing to secure a place for their child in a Polish school in advance.
  • Students transferring from schools in other countries to the Polish education system.
  • Those planning long-term study (over 90 days).

What the invitation provides

  • An official basis for obtaining a D-type visa (purpose — nauka) for the period of study.
  • The right to multiple entries and legal residence in Poland.
  • Confirmation of student status and the possibility of extending stay (residence card for study).

What the invitation includes

  • Full school details: name, address, contact information, registration numbers, signature of the director, and official seal.
  • Student details: full name, date of birth, nationality, and intended grade level.
  • Period of study (e.g., “for the academic year 2025/2026”).
  • Information on the form of study and tuition fees (for private schools).

Key requirements

  • A minor student must be under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian in Poland.
  • A notarized consent from the second parent and proof of residence address may be required.
  • Medical documents and vaccination records are typically presented at the start of the school year.

Processing time and procedure

  • School selection and confirmation: 3–7 business days.
  • Invitation issuance: up to 14 business days.
  • Visa application: typically 2–6 weeks (depending on the consulate).

We recommend planning the entire process at least 6–8 weeks before departure.
